Design Characteristics & Production
Our wool area rugs feature a blend of different New Zealand wools to
incorporate all the characteristics of the best carpet yarns: Crimpy
wools add resilience and bounce, while the longer, coarser wools
contribute character, luster and abrasion resistance.
- Felted wool: Woven
in Belgium, our deep-pile felted wool area rugs are visually stimulating and
incredibly soft to the touch. They share a contemporary aesthetic
inspired by the sophistication of American cities.
-
Flat-woven wool:
Designed and woven in our Fall River, Massachusetts, facility, our
flat-woven natural wool rugs sport a dynamic array of colors and patterns. A
number of selections to fit both modern and traditional room settings.
-
Tufted wool: These wool
rugs are designed and manufactured at our Fall River mill. Their chic
designs blend colors, textures and a mixture of cut-and-loop piles to
create stunning soft surfaces.
-
Wool/sisal:
Our Belgian mill combines the finest carpet wools from Europe and New
Zealand with a high-quality sisal to weave these fine boucles and
flatweaves. The resilience of our sisal/wool rugs makes them
well-suited for dining rooms and other settings where furniture is
moved frequently.
-
Wool/paper:
Our paper/wool rugs — designed and woven at our Fall River mill — bring
together the simple, elegant lines of paper and the soft beauty of
wool. With colorful wool yarns, our patented twisted paper and a
distinctive texture, they truly are one of a kind.
Sustainability
The
wool industry prides itself on having environmentally-responsible
production methods. The New Zealand sheep farms from which we obtain
the fibers for our natural wool rugs use no internationally banned pesticides and adhere to a
highly energy-efficient scouring process to clean the wool.
Wool
is a renewable, biodegradable fiber with natural insulating properties
to help retain heat, increase cooling effectiveness and improve energy
efficiency in our customers' homes.
