Throughout our 30-year history, Merida has approached sustainability from three
directions: economic growth, social development and environmental stewardship. To
us, sustainability encompasses the continuity and permanence of families, communities,
organizations and the earth itself. From our founder and chairman to the craftsmen
who sew and finish our rugs, this attitude permeates our organization at every level.
Merida is concerned not only with "doing well" for our company but also with "doing
good" for the people and communities we work with. Many of our employees have long
tenures that allow them to grow their skills and expertise, and all employees enjoy
generous benefits packages that are unusual for a small company to offer.
We have also built a strong, stable and high quality supply chain by maintaining
open and honest relationships with partners, paying a fair price for their products
and helping to develop their technical capabilities. Our partnerships are helping
to create economic growth and social opportunities for all of us – Merida employees,
our customers and our communities both in the United States and abroad. Through
these and other efforts, we are making meaningful progress on our sustainability
goals and uncovering incredible opportunities for growth and innovation. This is
what excites us about the future of our company and our world.
We are investigating how some of our products may qualify for LEED credits such
as the MR6 credit for Rapidly Renewable Material, or the MR5 credit for products
manufactured within a 500 mile radius of a project site.
